New year, new you?

With January underway and 2019 in full swing, many are working towards checking resolutions off their list. Often, embracing a healthier lifestyle is a common personal goal, but now, it’s making its way into the workplace as well.

A new survey by Office Team found that when trying to recruit new employees, a company’s health and wellness offerings play a huge role – with 73% of workers siting that this impacts their decision on whether or not they’d like to work there.

These findings ring especially true for the millennial generation. According to the survey:

“Younger professionals are more likely to consider the availability of health and wellness programs at a company when making a job decision, the survey found, with such programs being most important to professionals ages 18 to 34 (87 percent) followed by ages 35 to 54 (70 percent) and 55 and older (44 percent).”

“Experts predict that companies will begin to shift the focus of their corporate wellness programs in 2019 away from attaining specific physical fitness goals to promoting an employee’s total well-being, placing more emphasis on social connectedness, sense of purpose, character strength, meditation and mindfulness.”
